Dairy Africa Alliance launched in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe takes key role

A continental initiative to transform Africa’s dairy industry was on Tuesday launched in Victoria Falls, with Zimbabwe assuming a key leadership role in the newly formed Dairy Africa Alliance.

The Alliance was established at the ongoing International Dairy Federation Regional Dairy Conference and brings together public and private sector stakeholders from across the continent to address long-standing challenges that have stifled growth in the dairy value chain.

The launch follows endorsement by the 36th African Union Heads of State Summit earlier this year, reflecting the political will behind a sector with immense potential for food security, economic growth and improved nutrition.

Officiating at the launch, Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, David Marapira, described the occasion as historic, emphasising that the Alliance would ensure Africa speak
