MULTITUDES of villagers in Matshetsheni, Gwanda, have backed Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment No. 3) Bill, 2026 by embarking on a march to defend the proposed changes.
The march was organised by Zanu PF shadow Member of Parliament for Gwanda North constituency Cde Lungisani Costa Ncube on Tuesday.
The villagers unequivocally backed the proposed changes that will see include a parliamentary process for the election of the President and seeks to replace the current five-year term with a seven-year tenure.
The bill also introduces a raft of legal reforms aimed at strengthening constitutional governance, clarifying institutional roles, promoting political stability and enhancing the efficiency of the State architecture.

Parliament has deployed 11 teams throughout the country to conduct public hearings for the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment No. 3) Bill, 2026.
The public hearings mark a critical stage in Zimbabwe’s constitutional reform process, giving citizens a direct platform to shape proposed changes that could significantly alter the country’s electoral framework and governance structure.
The four-day hearings, which will run until Thursday, will be conducted across all the 64 districts, with thousands of Zimbabweans expected to participate.

In Gwanda, the hearings will be held on Wednesday at the West Nicholson factory.
