EMANUEL Zimbandu from Gweru has been elected new chairman for the Zimbabwe Association of Dairy Farmers (ZADF). Zimbandu, 62, who has served the organisation as vice chairman for two years, landed the post during last week’s annual general meeting in Bulawayo. He will be deputised by John Stanger.“It’s difficult to explain how I feel about my election as national chair. The reason being that it’s a big organisation, which is trying to drive dairy farming and industry to higher and greater levels under Zim-Asset,” said Zimbandu.
Outgoing president Craig Follwell has been redeployed to chair the Matabeleland region chapter while Edward Warambwa chairs the Midlands chapter.
Zimbandu said he will work together with the executive committee to share ideas on improving the dairy industry and addressing its challenges.
“We’ll liaise as a committee to come up with an enabling environment for people in the dairy industry to have confidence in investing so as to promote, advance and develop production of milk and dairy products in Zimbabwe,” he said.
The organisation held a three-day meeting in Bulawayo last week, which was attended by a number of Cabinet Ministers and dairy farmers from different provinces.
The ZADF has six regions — Matabeleland, Midlands, Mashonaland A, Mashonaland B, Manicaland and Chipinge.
