Dam levels increase

Average dam levels have increased to 91 percent due to the recent rainfall being experienced across the country, Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has said.

In a statement on its microblogging site, X, ZINWA said as of Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the national average of the country’s 152 dams was 91,0 percent.

The water authority, however, highlighted that 14 dams were below 50 percent.

“National dam storage average: 91 percent. Several major dams are now at or near full capacity. Public urged not to cross flooded rivers and to exercise caution near water bodies,” the water authority said.

According to the latest statistics, Chivero 78 percent, Tugwi Mukosi (100 percent), Lake Mutirikwi (100 percent) and Manyame (82 percent).

Mazowe (11 percent), Mzingwane ( 35 percent), Upper Ncema ( 41 percent), Inyakuni ( 19 percent).
