The popular Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival scheduled for Glamis Arena, Harare Exhibition Park will once again come to life on October 11 with a stellar line up of Zimbabwean acts that include Winky D, Tocky Vibes, Soul Jah Love and Shinsoman.
However, Jah Prayzah is the odd one out and he is likely to get a drubbing from the fiery dancehall acts that are synonymous with the festival.
Added to the fun, are two popular sound systems Legendary Sound and Judgment Yard, that are expected to rev up the audience.
“Entry will be at the price of US$5 for ordinary tickets and US$200 for VIP tickets. Sales begin on Friday 10 October at Harare Gardens and Avondale shopping centre. Tickets will also be available at various Delta Beverages distribution centres,” said the organisers in a presser.
A stern stance has been taken to curb violence that is normally associated with local shows dominated by Zim dancehall artistes.
“Narcotics, weapons, glass, beverage containers from off the site and any other contraband material will not be permitted and stringent screening measures will be in place to enforce this requirement,” they said. The party starts off with Delta Beverages Brew Masters event that will be held at the venue in the afternoon. From 12 noon beer tasting and explanation sessions for interested patrons of the festival,” they said.
To foster the merry mood, draft lager beer will be made available at reduced prices.
“As one of the stringent safety measures in line with international best practice at festivals, all beverages will be sold in specially produced plastic beer mugs.
“Consequently, festival goers will not be permitted to bring onto the site any bottles, cans or any other beverage container,” they said.
The first act will go on stage at 1630 hrs.
