HARARE-based rising dancehall artiste, Decide Marange, affectionately known as Doubles, has embarked on an Eastern Highlands marketing drive by releasing a gem titled Kumakomoyo which articulates the beauty of scenic areas in Manicaland province.
The song is carried on the artiste’s newly-released 11-track album titled Mabhobho.
The potential hit, launched in December last year, was accompanied with a video that shows magnificent and scenic resort areas in Eastern Highlands – a combined name for three ranges of hills and mountains from the rolling countryside and tea plantations of the Nyanga range, the granite peaks of the Chimanimani Mountain to the green meadows and the coffee plantations of the Bvumba range.
Zimbabwe’s highest peak, Mount Nyangani, resort centres, Troutbeck Inn and Birchenough Bridge as well as Mutare’s oldest city Sakubva are some of the places Marange glorifies in the song.
He urges listeners to value and cherish majestic places in Mutare while exploring on the need to capitalise from the tourism sights by extensively market and woo tourists.
Goes part of the lyrics, “…Ngatitangire paNyanga, matourists gozha ndopavaanonanga…ngatipinde paVumba, pane tunzizi, makomo, michero. Ngatipinde paChimanimani, huya uone zvimanimani, usakanganwe pabocha, ndopanowanikwa maclear nemangoda….”
Other tracks on the album include Sekacheche, Real love, Type yangu, Oki doki and Kwandabva kure.
In an interview, Marange said he will officially launch the album in Mutare, a place he was born and bred.
“I dedicate the album to my fans in Mutare. On the song Kumakomoyo I am appreciating the beauty of the city as well as influential people who have contributed immensely to its splendor. I have already started staging countrywide shows to market the song as well as other songs on the album. It’s my second album and it is full of corrections from my first offering, Hustle Bustle,” he said.
Although Marange did his primary and secondary education in Sakubva and carved a niche for himself in the music industry from 2003, he is yet to get the recognition he deserves in the land of his birth.
