CHIPINGE District Hospital has gone under massive refurbishment of its infrastructure following the release of $35 000 from Central Government.
The hospital has also acquired crucial medical equipment.
Chipinge District Medical Officer, Dr Brian Makumbe, confirmed the development and said the major aim of refurbishing the hospital falls under the hospital’s health strategic plan to implement the social and economic development goals within the national blueprint, Zim-Asset.
Dr Makumbe said the money which they received during the second quarter of the year was mainly channeled towards critical activities at the hospital.
“There was an urgent need to resuscitate the dilapidated infrastructure at the hospital since most of the buildings were built a long time ago. The hospital also used part of the money to purchase some medical equipment as well as new beds,” said Dr Makumbe.
Dr Makumbe said the hospital was aiming at achieving Zim-Asset goals by 2018.
“Our aim as the hospital is to improve health service delivery in line with Zim-Asset goals. We have made strides in improving health services in every corner of the district. We are focusing on decentralising health facilities where we offer good health services to rural clinics. This is helping us because it reduces pressure at referral hospitals in the district,” he said.
