SIX Bulawayo dancehall artistes have united and formed Kingmanship Family in a quest to revive the dying dancehall music genre in the city. The six are from six different stables but decided to come together after seeing Harare based dancehall musicians doing well.
The new stable members are Sean Miller, Nash, Otis Ngwabi, Senko, Wyper and General Python who are all from different studios. DJ Brooklyn is the head of the family.
In an interview, General Python said their collective aim was to work hard to revive dancehall music in Bulawayo.
“We can all see what Harare based musicians are doing, Winky can do a song with King Shaddy, Freeman and this is how they have revived dancehall music. We want to do the same in Bulawayo and it is not wrong for us to take a leaf from them because their style has yielded results,” General Python said.
He said Kingmanship Family members are among the best dancehall artistes in Bulawayo and other artistes are welcome to join in the effort to rebuild Rasta music.
“We are already in the festive season and we have a number of shows lined up. Fans should support this project so that we all work in the same direction,” said General Python.
He said they are done with their 2013 productions with each clan member releasing an album.
“Fans should look forward to some interesting duels from us. We are a family full of talent and are on a mission to entertain people,” he said.
