MOTSWANA dance queen Slizer will clash with Peter “Young Igwe” Moyo at Ritz Night Club Gardens in Masvingo tonight in what promises to be a thriller. Slizer, whose real name is Naledi Kaisara, is set to put the popular leisure spot on fire in her debut appearance in the ancient city with her gyrating dances which have made her a household name across Sadc. The Motswana songstress is in Masvingo for the first time and music lovers are looking forward to the show.
On the other hand young Moyo is enjoying a purple patch after releasing his first album Mushonga Mukuru in July which has been well received.
The two artistes performed together at Tongai Moyo’s memorial gig at Harare Gardens recently and the pencil-slim Slizer gave a good account of herself with Tongai’s son, Young Igwe, also in scintillating form.
Organiser of the Masvingo show and Ritz Regency entertainment manager Roy Gonese promised fans a good show.
“We are looking forward to a mouth-watering display from Slizer who is visiting Masvingo for the first time. As for Peter, he has been performing at the watering hole since time immemorial and the venue also used to be his late father’s favourite. We expect nothing short of a flawless display from the Young Igwe. The last time he played early this year, he left revellers asking for more,” he said.
Gonese said the venue was ready.
“This show will be unique in that Slizer will be part of the package and it is her first time to be in Masvingo. We thought she could add colour to the show, that is why we have invited her to come so that she can meet her Masvingo fans,” he said.
Slizer recently released an album which has the song Makau Bankintsa Ba Rhee which is reportedly doing well in Botswana.
In Zimbabwe she has received good reception whenever she visits and she is reportedly planning to do a duet with a local artiste.
Slizer has previously performed with Alick Macheso and the late Tongai Moyo whom she described as one of the best musicians to have emerged from Zimbabwe.
Gonese said he hopes that the rains would not disturb the show.
“We hope this show will not be washed away. Our stage is covered but the garden is open,” he said.
