CHITUNGWIZA Aquatic Complex will this Saturday reverberate to the sounds of dancehall when some of Zimbabwe’s top artistes — Freeman, Sniper Storm and Guspy Warrior – among others descend on the venue for a gig dubbed “The Inauguration”.The gig will see the very best of Zim dancehall and reggae artistes taking turns to treat fans with the special appearance from Patrick George Anthony Barrett better known as Tony Rebel, who is in the country for the annual Shoko Festival.
Organised by Conscious Productions, the gig is expected to be a thriller with dancehall artistes battling for supremacy and showcasing their talent.
Fireworks are expected from top dancehall artistes Dadza D, Freeman, Lady Squanda, Guspy Warrior, Shinsoman, King Labash, Sniper Storm, Jay C, Ricky Fire and Killer T among others.
The gig will also showcase top female Zimbabwe dancehall artistes Lady Squanda, Bounty Lisa and Nadine Brown who will perform alongside Mic Inity.
Conscious Productions CEO Briggs Bomba said the show will also officially recognise the job well done by top the likes of Freeman, Guspy Warrior and Dadza D.
“The show is meant to promote young upcoming dancehall artistes without much exposure as well as female dancehall artistes who are increasing by the day and are as good as their male counterparts.
“It is also meant to recognise the coming to age of the urban culture better known as ZimDancehall,” said Bomba.
Top DJs DJ Smile, Judgement Yard, DJ Fanton, DJ Mockey and Templeman “Godfather” will also take turns in spinning the tables.
“We want to uplift and give a profile to our own young artistes who are extremely talented and need to be appreciated,” Bomba added.
Darlington Tongai Zhanje, better known as Dadza D by his fans, said he was excited about the event, adding that he felt humbled to take part on the day and can’t wait to “deliver the package”.
The “Ita Seunononga” hit maker, Guspy Warrior, and Freeman “The Dancehall Doctor” are expected to ignite a revelling mood among their fans as they are proving to be dancehall lovers’ favourites and havealready made their mark in the music industry.
The appearance of Tony Rebel will be an opportunity for these dancehall artistes to share the stage with one of the hottest dancehall artistes.
Tony Rebel is the brains behind a reggae festival dubbed “Rebel Salute”, which is an annual event co-ordinated by his production company, Flames Productions in Jamaica.
If there is one gig that dancehall lovers do not want to miss, it ought to be this one.
