Sungura ace Alick Macheso will today clash with Zim dance hall sensation Soul Jah Love at Dandaro Inn. In apparent recognition of the attraction of Zim dancehall in spite of condemning the genre in the past Macheso has invited “Chibaba” Soul Jah Love, Potifar Mopo and DJ Cables to share the stage with him.
This is the first time that Macheso will be sharing the stage with Soul Jah Love and they are both set to sample new songs from their upcoming albums.
There is talk of Macheso withholding the release of his new album citing piracy which sees illegal copies flooding the market within hours of artistes releasing their music.
Last year he vowed that he was going to release the album without fail but nothing has materialised.
His new manager, Lucky Macheso, said this time there definitely was something in the pipeline.
“The album is coming and tomorrow’s gig at Dandaro Inn will see the sungura maestro unveiling some of the songs that are on the new album,” he said.
He said they had been working on the new album but have taken their time since they wanted to come up with a good project.
“We are going to release the album on a date to be announced but for now we will just sample some new things for the sake of our fans,” he said.
Dandaro Inn manager Oscar Nembire is optimistic that the show will be a roaring success.
“Everything is in place for the event and the artistes have all promised polished acts and also the gig is special since Baba Sharo will be sampling songs from the new album on a better version than before.
“As for Soul Jah Love, he is no stranger to polished acts and he has promised just that and he will also be sampling some new tracks while DJ Cables has of late come to be regarded as one of the best selectors owing to his versatile selection which appeals across generations and Potifar Mopo will take people down memory lane as he is set to perform some of his father’s songs,’’ he said.
