CELEBRATED local wheel spinners and Harare-based reggae-dancehall entertainers, Fyah Lynx will tonight (Friday) clash at Mangenje Nite Club in Dangamvura in a show dubbed: “Summer Dancehall Lockdown”. Fyah Lynx, a household name in one of Harare’s oldest suburbs Highfields popularly known as “Fio” has established itself to match the prowess of classic reggae entertainers such as Judgement Yard, Legendary, Mighty Ducks and Mad House Sound.
They will clash with Mutare’s own pride and renowned deejays Tuff-Nuff Sound, Fyah Child, Gideon Boot, DJ Joe Frazer, DJ Terminator and Dancehall Massive.
The showdown is set to draw tens of ghetto youths and dancehall fanatics from the sprawling suburbs of Dangamvura and Sakubva.
The show starts at 8pm.
One of the organisers and Tuff Nuff soundman, DJ Ranga affectionately known in the entertainment industry as Godfather, said fans will part with $2.
“This is the first time local deejays will be clashing with such a renowned stable like Fyah Lynx and we are urging people, particularly dancehall lovers to come and witness one of the historic battles of the turntables.
“We have confidence with our local deejays and such clashes enhance their experience and exposure.
“We realised that most of artistes in Mutare are lacking exposure and support so we hope to organise similar events in near future and host celebrated entertainers from outside Mutare,” he said.
One of the groups to take part in the clash, Fyah Child, said the clash would be one of the best things to ever happen in his career.
Fyah Child is now one of the most popular and fast rising entertainers in Mutare, thanks to Reggae Nights and Fire Fridays, a brainchild of Courtauld Theatre players.
“We want to take the organisers for according us a chance to shine and meet Fyah Lynx.
“It will be a great experience sharing stage with them,” said the duo, Cast Iron and Malevels, who make up Fyah Child.
