UP-AND-COMING junior golfer Danielle Bekker has intensified her preparations ahead of the 2014 Kids Golf World Championships in Malaysia. The tournament will be held at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club and the Palm Villa Golf and Country Resort.0 Bekker will be part of hundreds of kids who will compete in the prestigious event from December 8-12.
The 11-year-old Chapman starlet recently played a tournament in South Africa, which she won, which could be a confidence-booster.
Bekker’s mother Ilonka said she was impressed that her daughter shot an eagle. “Danielle played in RSA in third week of October and won a qualifying tournament but, to be honest, the field was very weak,” said IIonka.
“What was exciting at that tournament was that she shot her first eagle and has a great trophy to show for it (Eagle Trophy).
“She is off to Dubai for practice end of November and will take part in the Malaysia tournament which is starting December 8.
“The field there is always strong.”
The golf starlet is now playing off a 10-handicap.
Bekker shot 82, playing off her 10 handicap, at the Zimbabwe Junior Fundraising Golf Day at Wingate.
Meanwhile, Pride Sembo said his play-off duel with Stuart Krog at the Platinum Classic, was a huge experience.
“Playing in the play-off was a good challenge for me and to develop, as a player, you need such challenges,” said Sembo, who lost in the duel.
“I knew that it was going to be anyone’s game so I tried to keep my composure. “I hope the experience will help me in the next events and I will start to win some tournaments.”
