FORMER Chibuku Neshamwari national finals winner, Dapurahunzva once again defied the odds after clinching this year’s Chibuku Neshamwari Manicaland provincial finals held at Mandel Leisure Centre in Watsomba today.
The traditional dance group delivered a captivating performance that impressed both judges and the crowd, earning them the top prize and securing their place at the national finals later this year.
The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) outfit, MANSA finished in second place, and walked away with US$1,500, while Chihomva claimed third position, and walked away with US$1000. All participating groups received US$500 each, along with transport allowances.
With the victory, Dapurahunzva will represent Manicaland Province at the Chibuku Neshamwari national finals scheduled for later this year.
The event, organised by Delta Beverages in partnership with Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association and National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, was a resounding success. It attracted a large crowd and brought colour, excitement and entertainment to the usually quiet community of Watsomba.
Talented jazz musician, WaCharie and last year’s Manicaland provincial champions, Semvumba, provided entertainment after the competition, capping off a memorable cultural showcase.
