Blessings Chidakwa in Kadoma
Three district administrators in Mashonaland West have, with immediate effect, been re-deployed as part of a routine exercise.
The redeployment has affected district administrators from Mhondoro-Ngezi, Zvimba and Hurungwe districts who will assume their new posts on May 1.
Former Mhondoro-Ngezi district administrator Mrs Fortunate Muzulu has been re-deployed to Zvimba, taking over from Mr Andrew Tizora who has moved to Hurungwe.
Former Hurungwe DA Ms Makepeace Muzenda moves to Mhondoro-Ngezi taking over from Mrs Muzulu.
Mrs Mazulu revealed the changes while bidding farewell to the Mhondoro-Ngezi officials during a full rural district council meeting held in Mamina on Tuesday. “Government has with immediate effect transferred me to Zvimba District with the notice having been received on Monday,” she said. “The changes have also affected other districts as the Zvimba DA who has been transferred to Hurungwe where the incumbent one will be replacing me here.”
Mrs Muzulu took the opportunity to applaud all stakeholders from Mhondoro-Ngezi for supporting her during the tenure of office in the district.
“The rotation came as a surprise since l came here in 2017 assuming my first assignment as a district administrator after being employed as an assistant DA,” she said. “I learnt a lot during my short tenure here and what makes me proud is that we are separating on a good note.”
Narrating her experience during her tenure, Mrs Muzulu said the DA’s office was seized with cases of life threatening illegal mining activities, including at Claw Dam.
The artisanal miners are working under the dam which supplies the City of Kadoma with water, amid concern that their activities could be polluting the water body with such chemicals as mercury.
“It is quite sad especially after we lost 28 lives at Cricket Mine in our district recently,” said Mrs Muzulu.
“We have engaged relevant sectors like Environment Management Agency, police and Mines and Mining Development Ministry to resolve the issue urgently.”
Artisanal miners in Mashonaland West have been causing havoc in various gold rich districts while the province has also recorded a rise in fatal accidents at the mines.
