The Green Machine opened their campaign with a tricky assignment away in Zvishavane against Shabanie Mine where they escaped with a point after a 0-0 draw.
Hopes were high from the Green Army that they will collect maximum points against Chicken Inn but it a was bitter pill as they fell 0-2 at Gwanzura on Saturday.
Goals from Lineance Mpofu and Evans Chikwaikwai condemned CAPS to their first defeat and a section of their fans threw missiles in injury time to force a premature end to the game.
Tomorrow CAPS United are back at Gwanzura with veteran defender Sengu hopeful of a positive result.
“The players were disappointed by the defeat, especially after a good game in Shabanie.
“The match against Chicken Inn was our first home game and we were convinced as players that we would win, but it was not so.
“Hopefully, this weekend, it’s a new chapter and we have got to start from scratch,” said Sengu.
A win tomorrow will be give Northern Irishman, Sean Connor, his first set of full points after his team failed to win the first two league matches.
Crucially, CAPS have yet to score in 180 minutes.
This week, Connor shared the disappointment of losing the match but said he will not be swayed away from his long term targets at CAPS United.
Both Connor and his assistant Lloyd Chitembwe insisted that there was no need to press the panic button and appealed to their supporters for patience.
CAPS United have since been summoned to appear before a disciplinary committee because of the rowdy behaviour of their fans with the supporters’ leader Abraham Kawadza issuing a stern warning against perpetrators of violence.
“What happened the last time we played was rather unfortunate because we want football to be a family event.
“I keep giving the message to my colleagues and supporters that we do not condone violence.
“We should not throw stones and we have now beefed up our security in addition to preaching the gospel against hooliganism.
“Anyone caught on the wrong side of the law will face the music,” said Kawadza.
Kawadza is also confident that his side will get a good result against Motor Action but pointed out that they should be prepared to accept any result at the end of the match.
“In football, there are three results which can be a win, a draw or a defeat.
“We should be prepared for any outcome but I am sure things on the technical side are going to gel with the right combinations,” said Kawadza.
The CAPS United technical team could chose between Edmore Sibanda and Muzondiwa Gonese to guard the posts while Asani Nhongo and Tapiwa Kumbuyani may fill the wing backs.
Sengu and former skipper Nyasha Mukumbi played in central defence in the last tie while Edmore Chafungamoyo is likely to wear the captain’s armband in defensive link.
Chafungamoyo, though, was poor against Chicken Inn while Kumbuyani was inspirational.
Pride Tafirenyika could be get a run while it remains to be seen whether Evans Gwekwerere will be given the nod to start.
Motor Action were yesterday battling to have the match shifted to their Motor Action Sports Club for today but the PSL stood their ground that the game is at Gwanzura tomorrow.
