Davido comes to Zim

SKELEWU hit-maker, Davido who is fresh from winning an MTV Africa Music Award is expected in Zimbabwe next month for a show in Harare. The show will be held at Belgravia Sports Club on August 29, a day after America’s legendary R&B superstars, Toni Braxton and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds’s concert at Borrowdale Racecourse.

The Nigerian artiste is expected to jet into the country on August 27 for a welcome party at Club 1+1 on August 28.

He will wrap up his tour with a farewell party which will be held at a venue to be advised.

One of the organisers, Templeman said tickets to the show, a partnership between ZBC’s Power FM, Chipaz Promotions and Jacaranda Culture will be sold from August 1. The lowest ticket has been priced at $10.

“The tickets will start from $10 and if these get sold out, we’ll start selling the $15, then $20 ones. This is being done to accommodate all the fans,” said Templeman.

Power FM’s acting manager Kudzi Marudza said Davido’s supporting acts would be voted for on the radio station, as well as the songs that he will perform. Voting will be through Whatsapp, Facebook and SMSs.

Born David Adeleke in America, Davido has experienced different cultures but stays true to his Nigerian roots as evidenced by his music.

In November, 2011 the artiste released his first album Dami Duro. The album took first position in Trace’s Africa Chart. In July, 2012 he released his second album Omo Baba Olowo. Some of his popular songs are Tchelete featuring Mafikizolo, Dami Duro, Gobe and Ayo.

Davido has shared the stage with popular names such as T-Pain, Fabulous, Keith Sweat and D’banj.
