Davis’ monster night leads Lakers

Anthony Davis set season highs with 42 points and 23 rebounds to help the visiting Los Angeles Lakers beat the Charlotte Hornets 112-107 on Monday night.

Davis made 17 of 28 shots from the field and reached the 40-point mark for the third time this season. He grabbed eight offensive boards and finished three rebounds shy of matching his career high.

LeBron James racked up 22 points, seven rebounds and eight assists and Austin Reaves added 17 points for the Lakers, who have won four straight games and six of their past seven.

The Hornets played most of the game without their leading scorer, All-Star guard LaMelo Ball, who exited with 8:42 left in the second quarter.

Charlotte trailed by as many as 23 points in the first half before cutting the deficit to nine at the break.

Devin Booker put up 26 points and the host Phoenix Suns held off a late charge by the Los Angeles Clippers for a 111-109 win on Monday night.

Booker did a good portion of his damage from 3-point range, going 5-for-10 from beyond the arc while also collecting eight assists and seven rebounds. Kevin Durant made four threes and finished with 24 points and Tyus Jones knocked down five en route to 17 points for Phoenix, which made 22 of 47 shots from distance as a team (46.8 percent).

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard each hit the 30-point mark in the same game for the sixth time this season as the Milwaukee Bucks routed the Utah Jazz 125-110 on Monday night in Salt Lake City.

Antetokounmpo totaled 35 points on 16-of-23 shooting to go along with 18 rebounds, seven assists and two steals as the Bucks returned to their winning ways for their sixth victory in seven games. Lillard also contributed 35 points on 14-of-22 shooting while chipping in eight assists and five boards.

Klay Thompson drained seven 3-pointers in the first quarter on the way to a game-high 23 points and the Dallas Mavericks handed the visiting Washington Wizards a 14th straight loss with a 130-108 blowout on Monday.

It was a rout from the start, as Dallas needed just 6:13 to open up a 24-5 lead before going into the second quarter up 42-16.

The Mavericks led by as many as 38 in the first half, doing so when P.J. Washington canned a triple with 5:47 to go until the break to make it 63-25.

Anthony Edwards scored 23 points, Julius Randle added 20 points and the Minnesota Timber

wolves held on for a 100-92 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night in Minneapolis.

Rudy Gobert paired 18 points with 10 rebounds for Minnesota, which won its third game in a row. Naz Reid contributed 15 points off the bench.

De’Andre Hunter scored a career-high 35 points to lead Atlanta. Fellow reserve Clint Capela chipped in 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Tyler Herro scored 30 points and had a season-high 12 assists, leading the host Miami Heat to a 125-119 double-overtime win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night.

Miami’s Bam Adebayo added 26 points including six in the second OT plus 10 rebounds and nine assists. Rookie Kel’el Ware, who was in foul trouble in the first half and had just two points, finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Heat won their second game in a row.

Franz Wagner led the Magic with 29 points, and Paolo Banchero and Tristan da Silva added 17 points apiece. Anthony Black had 14 points and a game-high five steals in an outstanding defensive performance, while Wendell Carter Jr. had 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Prior to the game, Miami suspended Jimmy Butler for the third time this season all for conduct detrimental to the team. Butler’s latest ban has him out indefinitely Reuters.
