ONLINE applications for enrolment of Form One pupils at Government and Non-Government boarding schools for the 2025 school year will start from the beginning of next month.
In circular from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Permanent Secretary, Mr Moses Mhike said the online applications are set to begin on 1 November, closing on 31 December.
The Ministry will hold the applications through the Electronic Ministry’s Application Platform (EMAP). When Grade Seven results are out, the platform will be opened for heads of boarding schools to commence their enrolment of 2025 Form Ones.
“Parents/guardians who wish to send their children to boarding schools are advised to start applying through the platform (www.emap.co.zw) with effect from 1 November up to 31 December 2024. Each applicant will be allowed to make a maximum of five active applications at any given time.
“An applicant who has been offered a place at one school will not be eligible to apply or be considered for a place at any other school unless the offer is declined. Successful applicants will be notified through short message service by the respective School Heads. Parents/guardians are however, advised that there are limited boarding places and should therefore have alternative arrangements to avoid challenges if a boarding place is not secured,” reads the circular.
Mr Mhike revealed that once an applicant applies using the system, the application can show a status of either pending (application still under consideration), accepted (you have been offered a place), processed (once a particular school has accepted your child, all the other outstanding schools’ statuses will automatically be changed to processed) or rejected (your application was unsuccessful).
“Once you decline an offer there is no guarantee that you will get the same offer back • The system selects successful candidates,” reads the circular.
