TWO dealers allegedly stole and sold a truck which was left at a restaurant in Harare after it developed some mechanical problems.
Nyasha Casper Chorwadza and Fortune Mlambo were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate, Ruth Moyo, who released them on US$100 bail each.
The court heard that on March 1 the duo, acting in connivance with Zenzo Churu and Matimba Masawuso who are still at large, hatched a plan to steal the complainant’s truck — a Man 26292 tanker blue and silver in colour.
The truck had been left at Family 24 after it developed some mechanical faults.
The gang placed an advertisement signalling their intention to sell the truck.
The advertisement was seen by Addington Mbabu, who showed interest in buying the truck.
They went with the buyer and showed him the truck.
The parties agreed that Addington Mbabu was to pay US$2,300.
Mbabu paid US$2000 and left a balance of US$ 300.
The duo, and their accomplices, promised to give the buyer the registration book upon payment of the outstanding balance.
The complainant discovered the offence when she went to collect the truck.
She filed a police report after failing to locate the truck.
Investigations led to the recovery of the stolen truck and the arrest of the duo.
Their accomplices are still at large.
Takudzwa Jambawo appeared for the State.
