A NIGHT of beers and beats at a Chachacha Bar turned into a bloodbath, all over a Bluetooth speaker!
Tatenda Hove (24) will be dancing to prison bars for the next 25 years after the High Court Circuit in Gweru found him guilty of fatally stabbing fellow reveller Pardon Vengai (22) during a drunken altercation at Danga Bar on 6 November 2024.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the chaos started when Vengai and his crew; Prince Vengai and Tawanda Manuwere were vibing to music on their Bluetooth speaker.
Hove, rolling deep with his accomplice Tapia Chitenga (who’s still on the run), gatecrashed the party and snatched the speaker.
When Pardon tried to reclaim his property, Chitenga reportedly unleashed a flurry of slaps. The duo bolted with the speaker, with pardon in pursuit.
“Outside the bar, as Pardon pleaded for his speaker, Hove pulled out a Columbia knife and stabbed him in the back as he tried to escape. The young man collapsed after a short sprint,” the statement read.
Pardon was rushed to Zvamavonde Hospital and later transferred to Gweru Provincial, but the blade had done fatal damage. He succumbed to his injuries on 8 November 2024.
Justice finally caught up with Hove, who was nabbed on 9 November and handed a lengthy 25-year prison sentence for the savage killing.
All over a Bluetooth speaker — a night out that ended in silence and sorrow.
