Decisiveness: A key pillar for success

What if we told you that success is not complicated as it is made to seem?
What if you were told that everyone, including you can be successful in the field of their choice?

Indeed it is true, that anyone and everyone could enjoy success in any chosen field and it is not as complicated as it is made to seem.
Success is a function of the application of oneself to life. How much you apply yourself determines how many rungs you climb up the success ladder.

Don’t get this wrong, this does not in any way back the common assertion that hard work only brings success.
There are skills that one needs to develop if they hope to attain success and these skills are universal to any career, or field.

One of the most critical skills that one cannot do without in their pursuit of success is decisiveness.
In fact, it is usually the missing ingredient in most success recipes that most people use. Most people are not able to make sound decisions in the appropriate time and that is why success always seems to elude them.

For most of the people the difference between success and failure lies in decision-making.
The majority of people actually dread making decisions. They have such a phobia for making decisions that they spend the majority of their life running away from making decisions.

These are the people who cannot confront their circumstances and make decisions about them. The result is that most of their life is run in autopilot mode where they just flow downstream and never steer the course their path will take. No wonder why they can never even catch a glimpse of success.

Being able to realise decision points in life and making the decisions, regardless of how sound or hollow the decisions are, is in fact a huge step that requires appreciation.
This is because most people fear making decisions. It is important to learn to be decisive in life from very early stages, right from the little and simple things.

Being decisive is not only about making decisions. It is about making decisions and sticking with them.
Most people will fail the test on the latter part. Sticking with their decisions when they are tested! They take awfully long to make decisions but undo those decisions quickly.

Such people do not fit the bill. They will not grasp success if they continue with the habit.
Successful people make decisions always and they do not usually change their decisions.

Some people are able to make decisions about unimportant things but then struggle with making the decisions that matter. The moment they sense how important a decision is they start dragging and take forever to make the decision.

In so doing, they are either letting go of a grand opportunity or aggravating the problem at hand by taking forever to make a decision.
It is important to be able to make swift and sound decisions even when under pressure.

Leaders of organisations are paid for nothing more than that, making the important decisions in real time. If you cannot make real time decisions, you can never be the leader in your field.

The reason why most people fail to make decisions is because they are informed by their fear more than by the possibilities.
Most people are naturally risk averse and will prefer playing in the safe and usual grounds.

They cannot make prompt decisions when faced with new situations and opportunities.
This is their greatest undoing. Success is made in times of change and uncertainty. In such times, the bold will analyse situations quickly, make a decision, action it and reap unprecedented success.

The longer you take to make your decisions the lower your chances of attaining success. The easier it is for you to change your decision, the slimmer your chances of getting successful.

Drag yourself out of the shallow end by simply being decisive.
Start to analyse your life and to pick all the areas that you have been avoiding to make decisions on.

Waste no time, decide on the course you want to follow, once satisfied action your decision and stick with it.
Start with the smaller decision as you gain practise on how to make decisions and before you know you will get the hang of it and realise that decision making will soon come intuitively for you.

Decisiveness is a must have skill, if you are to gain success!
Till next week guys, God bless you all.
