DELTA INDUCTS 50 STUDENTS

DELTA Corporation yesterday officially inducted over 50 students going into ‘A” Level and university as part of their bursary rollout programme at Mandel Training Centre in Harare.

The bursary programme accommodates bright but underprivileged pupils.

The bursary will cater for pupils at either a Government or mission school for tuition, uniforms, text books and pocket money.

Speaking during the bursary induction programme. Delta’s Corporate Affairs General Manager, Patricia Murambinda urged the students to take this scholarship seriously as it might change their lives.

“As Delta Corporation, this year we are celebrating 125 years of existence, we are excited to be holding again the bursary scheme induction programme. Today, we have our students coming from various provinces within Zimbabwe and the Delta internal employee’s children, who are coming from lower staff.

“To the students, they should take this investment as a pillar of inspiration.

“The value of the bursary, in this difficult environment, should challenge them to work hard to improve themselves academically so that in turn they may be able to further develop the communities where they come from.

“As Delta, we take a child from A’ Level and if that child passes then automatically they qualify for their fees to be paid at university level,” she said.

Murambinda said their assistance was a means of boosting the capacity of the less-privileged students.

“Delta Corporation aspires for a better world by contributing to making a difference in the communities that it operates in.

“Delta has been involved in assisting students as a means of enhancing capacity and capability for the less privileged students for twenty years.

“As Delta we believe in a brighter, better, thriving and growing society and today something new has come to fulfil this aspiration in the bursary scheme community and the company is proud of it.”

Delta runs a vibrant education assistance programme which includes this school bursaries programme, worth around US$100 000 per year.

To date close to 2,000 students have benefited from the programme over the years amounting to US$2million investment.

Delta has a total of 100 students benefiting from the programme.
