THE Zimbabwe Netball Association Bulawayo Province entered week 18 with Highlanders coming from behind to beat table toppers Delta Sparrows 39-28 at White City Stadium on Saturday.
Former Railstars players Zanele Mazaiwana and Lorraine Maruza, as well as Sichelesiwe Ndlovu combined brilliantly to condemn Sparrows to an unexpected defeat.
After finishing the first quarter of the match trailing 5-6, Highlanders came back super-charged to end the second quarter leading 20-14.
The third quarter ended with Highlanders leading 31-23.
“I am super proud of our hunger for the ball and the intensity the girls showed in the four quarters.
“We did tire towards the end, but each and every player gave 110 percent and you can’t ask for more than that,” said Highlanders netball coach Tatenda Gwenzi.
Despite the loss, Sparrows still top the table with 18 points from 12 matches followed by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Bulawayo with 15 points.
Highlanders are fourth with 10 points from seven matches.
During the week, bottom-placed Sobukhazi, who are yet to win a game, will face second from bottom side TelOne, while Elephants will take on Lupane.
