PREMIERSHIP giants Dynamos will look back and realise this is a game they should have won big.

Yesterday they settled for a 3-0 win over Triangle at Rufaro, a match where they did the job in the first half before shutting down.

First-half goals from captain Shadreck Nyahwa, Christopher Nettey, and Leeroy Mavhunga were all they needed.

Dynamos had gone six games without a win, losing twice against CAPS United and Chicken Inn and drawing four matches against FC Platinum, Scottland, ZPC Kariba, and Herentals.

Nyahwa scored from outside the box in the 12th minute to put Dynamos ahead with a thunderbolt that didn’t give Panashe Nyabunga in goals for Triangle a chance.

Nettey scored his first league goal for Dynamos after an exchange with Jairos Kasondo, making it 2-0.

Mavhunga made it three in the 22nd minute after unselfish Perfect Chikwende set him up in another moment of brilliance.

Jayden Bakari had a chance to reduce the deficit for Triangle, but his effort was matched by Makoni late in the first half.

Makoni had earlier tipped a speculative cross away from the top corner in the seventh minute and later dealt with a half-time attempt by Emmanuel Paga that nearly beat him to keep a clean sheet.

In the second half there was not much goal-bound action. Triangle had a better second half, but it was Dynamos that created the best scoring opportunity.

Chikwende was brought down in the box in the 74th minute, and Jairos Kasondo stepped forward, but only took his effort wide.

Dynamos head coach Genesis “Kaka” Mangombe said he would want to see his side capitalise on their chances.

“I am happy. But at the same time, if you can score many goals in a game like this, you need to capitalise on the chances you get.

“Maybe we should have scored maybe five goals. But at the end of the day, what is important is three points.”

Mangombe said his boys executed his game plan well, and it was all they needed to kill the contest.

“The boys played very well. According to our game plan, it came up well because we said we need to finish off this game in the first half. I am happy that we managed to defend those three goals in the second half.”

In the past games, Mangombe noted that conceding cheap goals was their main weakness.

“The major weakness we have was conceding silly goals from the crosses, from the corner kicks, which we tried and worked on at training. And today I am happy that there was no danger on that one.”

Triangle head coach, Lloyd Chitembwe said the application by his charges was disappointing.

“The application was not on point, but later on improved, I saw it in the way the team performed in the second half. At first we missed the fight, there was some instances they looked uncomfortable,” said Chitembwe.

“In these matches it took a lot of mental strength from players, they are the kind of games that make heroes and villains. Today we were not heroes,” he said.

Dynamos will now shift focus to their away encounter against Hardrock at Chahwanda.
