DeMbare directors turn screws on Munetsi executive

Munetsi, by meeting the club’s lawyer yesterday as part of the process to enforce their decision to dissolve the executive.
The full board of directors met in the capital yesterday with the main item on the agenda being a follow-up on their decision to dissolve the executive taken on Saturday.
With some of the Dynamos executive members now claiming that the dissolution was an assault on the club’s constitution, the directors sought to get legal advice on the move.
They were asked to submit minutes of their meeting, where a decision was taken to dissolve the executive committee, and the lawyer will advice them of the way forward.
The DeMbare directors want to bar Munetsi and all the executive members, ousted in the boardroom coup, from carrying out any duties on behalf of the club. They also demanded to get an explanation from Zifa and the PSL as to why they were letting Munetsi and his colleagues organise a charity match, on behalf of the club, scheduled for South Africa this weekend, when they had been dumped from the club’s leadership structures.
“Letters were sent to Zifa and the PSL advising them of the changes and the fact that the two bodies have not responded means that they have acknowledged the changes,” said one of the directors. But we are surprised that there appears to be an attitude, on the part of both Zifa and the PSL, to let these people continue carrying out duties on behalf of the club. So far we haven’t received anything, officially, from Zifa to advise us that they have cleared the trip to South Africa and we hope they won’t make the mistake to communicate with those who have been stripped of authority.
“We have no problems with the team playing in South Africa but we have every problem with our decisions being ignored.”
Sources who attended yesterday’s meeting said there was a hardening stance, among the majority of the directors, to stick with their decision to dissolve the executive.
Only board chairman Richard Chiminya, who has promised to address the media on the issue today, appeared to favour a reconciliatory approach. While their boardroom continues to shake, the Dynamos players continued their preparations for their trip to South Africa where they will play Orlando Pirates in a charity game on Saturday. The South African champions are expected to field a developmental side that will also feature some guest players.
DeMbare team manager Richard Chihoro yesterday said they were taking the game against Pirates seriously. The Glamour Boys have opened their doors to former Lengthens and CAPS United striker Tendai Nyamadzawo, who is currently clubless, after being fired by Masvingo United for allegedly leading a player revolt.
Dynamos are also assessing Charles Mukanhaire, Peter Ngwenya and Eddie Mashiri who started training with club yesterday.
“We are taking our friendly match against Pirates seriously and we are travelling with a full-strength squad. It’s actually part of our preparations for the league game against Chicken Inn and we want to capitalise on this opportunity to fine-tune our team.
Fixtures:
Saturday: Shooting Stars v Black Mambas (Sakubva), Gunners v CAPS United (Lafarge), Masvingo United v FC Platinum (Mucheke).
Sunday: Hwange v Zimbabwe Saints (Colliery), Shabanie v Blue Ribbon (Maglas).
Monday: Kiglon v Highlanders (Rufaro), Monomotapa v Motor Action (Gwanzura).
Wednesday: Dynamos v Chicken Inn (Rufaro).

“We heard Pirates are still on off-season and they will be fielding an under-strength team but we are not reading much into that.
“There are some players we are assessing for a possible move when the window period opens but noone of them will be travelling for the Pirates game, we carrying the players who have been commanding jerseys lately.
“We are looking at strengthening our attack which have been struggling and there are some players we have already targeted.
“We had wanted to bring in Clive Kawinga but CAPS United seem to be clinging to him and we are also assessing Peter Ngwenya, Charles Mukanhaire, Tawanda Nyamadzawo and Eddie Mashiri but we haven’t opened negotiations yet,” said Chihoro.
Meanwhile the Premiership action continues this weekend despite the Women’s Cosafa Championships, which starts on Saturday.
CAPS United will begin a new chapter without Moses Chunga with a tricky assignment against Gunners at Lafarge on Saturday.
