CASTLE Lager Premiership giants Dynamos have turned to West Africa for more talent and are believed to be chasing Cameroonian Idrissou Nfor Finia to address their goalkeeping problems ahead of the 2026 season.

Sources close to DeMbare told Zimpapers Sports Hub yesterday that the Chibuku Super Cup holders are weighing their options on the award-winning Finia, who lifted the Golden Glove in his home country last year after recording 19 clean sheets in the 2024/25 season.

According to the sources, DeMbare want the highly-rated former Cameroon Under-23 goal-minder to bolster their goalkeeping department, which was destabilised following the departure of 2025 first choice Prince Tafiremutsa to Premiership rivals Scottland recently.

Tafiremutsa had established himself as key for Dynamos in the last two seasons.

With his exit, second-in-command Tatenda Makoni stepped in to keep goals when Dynamos played bitter rivals Highlanders in the Jairos Jiri Cup pre-season charity match in Bulawayo last week.

Nomadic Ashley Reyners, who is currently job hunting, was on the DeMbare substitutes’ bench at Barbourfields.

Reyners has been training with the Glamour Boys in the last few weeks and is looking to impress coach Genesis Mangombe. But it has since emerged that Cameroonian international Finia is also on the radar of the Harare giants.

The 23-year-old is currently a free agent after agreeing to a mutual termination of his contract with Sudanese club Jamus SC, where he had spent just six months up to the start of this year.

Before the move to Sudan, he had made his name at Colombe de Dja in the Cameroonian elite championship.

DeMbare are also linked with Ghanaian international Christopher Nakai Netty as a replacement for former captain Emmanuel Jalai in the fullback position.

Jalai moved to Durban City in South Africa last month, after spending six years at DeMbare.

Ghanaian Netty is a 27-year-old right back who has a few caps with Ghana’s Black Stars.

He previously played for Accra Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko SC in the Ghana top-flight league and also had a brief stint in the Ghana Futsal Premier League after signing for Blessed Kickers last season.

Dynamos recently announced 10 new signings to fill the gaps created by the departure of some of their key players.

Apart from Jalai, Tafiremutsa and Ghanaian defender Mohammed Issaka are now in the books of champions Scottland while midfielder Vusa Ngwenya also joined the Mabvuku outfit.

DeMbare have a number of new faces including midfielder Trevor Mavunga, who is returning to the club on loan from Simba Bhora, winger Callum English-Brown, ex-Yadah midfielder Prosper Kafelapanjila, striker Elton Njini; and defenders Collin Mujuru and Anotidaishe Gwatidzo.

Former Yadah player Mandla Mlilo, Witness Shave and veteran forward Perfect Chikwende have also been roped in to add weight to DeMbare’s attacking options.

Mangombe indicated in a recent interview that the giants still have slots to add more players to their roster. Dynamos also signed two foreign players Stanley Billiat from Malawi and Congolese defender Isaac Landu.

DeMbare are set to clash with Scottland in the season opening Castle Challenge Cup at Rufaro this Sunday, in a match that is touted to give indicators for the new season.

Gate charges have been pegged at $5 for the rest of the ground, $10 VIP and $20 VVIP.

The organisers yesterday said in a statement they are expecting a big crowd at Rufaro.

“The match is expected to draw a strong turnout, reflecting the national appeal and loyal fan bases of both clubs,” said a statement from sponsors, Delta Beverages.

“Extending beyond the game, the 2026 Castle Lager Challenge Cup will include a US$5 000 community initiative.

“The winning team will nominate a community to benefit from the drilling of a borehole, reinforcing Castle Lager’s commitment to bringing people together and creating meaningful, lasting impact through access to clean water.”
