Dynamos, who failed to scale the first round hurdle in the tournament this year, are aiming to qualify for the mini-league stage next year.
They will be joined by newcomers FC Platinum in next year’s Champions League, after the Zvishavane side made a sensational run in their debut season to finish second in the Premiership race.
DeMbare, who won the title after a four-year wait, want to make a huge mark in Africa next year.
The Glamour Boys’ secretary-general, Nyika Chifamba, yesterday said they will start preparations soon after the festive holidays.
Chifamba said most of the players have indicated that they remained committed to the next season.
He said they were still trying to tie up agreements with a few others whose contracts expire at the end of the year.
“I can confirm that we have managed to retain the bulk of our players.
“However, we are still left to negotiate with a small percentage of the group,” said Chifamba.
DeMbare will go into battle next season without Archford Gutu, who will be moving to Sweden, and experienced midfielder Murape Murape who announced his retirement early this week.
Team coach Calisto Pasuwa has already submitted his shopping list to the executive to beef up the squad during the off-season.
Pasuwa indicated that he would want to strengthen the leftback, central defence and add at least one striker for next season.
“We are still pursuing a few players whom I cannot name now. We will let you know once we have completed the deals.
“Otherwise, everything seems to be going in the right direction. But as I have said before we need a good financial backing to get all the players we want,” said Chifamba.
Dynamos, FC Platinum and Motor Action will represent the country in Africa next year.
DeMbare are believed to have approached their sponsors BancABC, Savanna Tobacco, Mbada Diamonds and Delta Beverages to bankroll their Champions League campaign next season.
Registration for participating teams was supposed to close yesterday but Caf announced that they had extended the process to next Monday.
Motor Action have welcomed the offer to play in the Caf Confederation Cup next season after finishing third in the league race.
The Mighty Bulls, who had their maiden African dance in the prestigious Champions League earlier in the year, have been confirmed as Zimbabwe’s sole representatives in Caf’s second tier tournament.
The club’s director Eric Rosen said the Mighty Bulls had the pedigree to compete in Africa but would need to work on their squad before the start of the preliminary games next month.
Rosen hinted that they wanted to beef up the forward line, which appeared to have cost them the chance to defend their Premiership title in the just-ended season.
“We did very well to finish third in the league race.
“We also won the BancABC Cup and reached the final of the Mbada Diamonds Cup.
“I think that was a good run and we know our problem and where it emanates from.
“If you look at our first games of the season in the Champions League, it was no different from Sunday’s Mbada Diamonds Cup final against Dynamos.
“We created chances but there were no goals. We don’t have firepower up-front and that has been the case the whole season, which resulted in 12 games ending in stalemate and, by the way, we were one of the clubs with the most draws in the league.
“Obviously we will need to beef up but as usual financial constraints are a huge factor.
“I think we played a lot of games this year. We started our season earlier than anyone else because of the Champions League commitments and I feel the players now need a rest.
“We just want the dust to settle down and very soon we have to sit down with the technical team and then players will go on holiday before returning to start preparations for the new season,” said Rosen.
