DeMbare regalia on sale

DeMbare secretary-general Webster Chikengezha, yesterday said they were still taking stock of the merchandise that had just arrived from South Africa.

“At the moment we are still counting the merchandise and taking proper stock. But I think it should be around 2 200 jerseys that came on this consignment.

“The merchandise is going on sale during our friendly game against Monomotapa and we will also sell some when we play Buffaloes  at the resumption of the league programme next week,” said Chikengezha.

Chikengezha said they are still finalising on the selling points at Rufaro.

“We hope to set up a booth or a small tent  at the Eastern side and another one on the Western side where the merchandise would be sold,” said Chikengezha.

The replica jerseys are going for US$50 and there has been concerns that the amount  was too much for the majority of the fans and Chikengezha said they are negotiating for replicas for the lower level market.

“Some people said the jersey is expensive while it’s also affordable to others. So we are talking to Adidas to bring something for the lower market. At the moment we have a market that wants the US$50 shirts,” said Chikengezha.

As they sell the merchandise, Dynamos will also try to put measures to stop people who sell regalia on the parallel market.

“Our appeal is for genuine Dynamos fans to shun the fake merchandise and buy from approved dealers. We will try to put our security personnel to stop people who sell our regalia but do not remit anything to the club,” said Chikengezha. Dynamos used to have a sport shop along Julius Nyerere Way in the capital where they used to sell replica jerseys, casual shirts, ash trays, bottle openers, beer and coffee mugs, scarfs and caps before it folded in the early 1990s.

Meanwhile, Dynamos will have to wait a little longer before they use Congolese player Jeremy Mumbere, who is still sidelined because he does not have an international clearance.

Dynamos signed the player from St Eloi Lupopo but the midfielder is yet to play a competitive game because he has not been cleared.
