There, however, had been concerns at the club that Chikengezha was being overwhelmed with the demands of being both the vice-chairman and the secretary-general with players even petitioning the Dynamos board of directors to remove him from the position following the problems that rocked their trip to Lesotho for a Champions League assignment against Lesotho Correctional Services.
Dynamos had a bumpy trip to and from Maseru and even found themselves being stranded in the Lesotho capital after missing their flight back home.
The players laid the blame on Chikengezha for the mishap amid a flurry of allegations that the players had also turned up late at the airport because they had been waiting for their lunch at their hotel in Maseru.
At the end of the storm the club’s directors reckoned that a communication breakdown within the entire travelling delegation had led to the embarrassing episode they encountered in Maseru.
But according to a brief statement from the Dynamos board of directors, some changes have now been made to the executive that is led by Kenny Mubaiwa.
Chris Kasiyazi, who is the board secretary has been tasked with doubling up in a similar role in Mubaiwa’s executive committee.
Kasiyazi, who is also now the board’s spokesman said last night that they had also dropped former secretary-general Nyika Chifamba from the executive committee.
Chifamba, who also served as team manager when DeMbare reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2008, was first demoted from secretary-general to committee member when Dynamos roped in Kazembe into their administration.
The short-lived Warriors manager was also the only major casualty in the shake-up announced by Kasiyazi.
“We would like to confirm that Kenny Mubaiwa remains our executive committee chairman while Webster Chikengezha, who had been doubling up as secretary-general reverts to his position of vice-chairman.
“At the same time we would also like to announce the appointments of Webster Marechera as the new Dynamos treasurer while I have been tasked by the board to double up as the secretary-general in the executive committee.
“We have also made some changes to our committee members where we have retained Simon Sachiti and brought in Timothy Simfukwe.
“Simfukwe will take over from Nyika Chifamba as the second committee member,’’ Kasiyazi said.
The changes also mean that only the trio of Mubaiwa, his deputy Chikengezha and long-serving administrator Sachiti are the survivors from the management team that was in charge when Dynamos secured their second league and cup double last year.
