DeMbare seal Rusike deal

Champions Dynamos have finally made the breakthrough to bring Zimbabwe international winger Tafadzwa Rusike to the Glamour Boys after the management agreed terms with the player’s manager yesterday. Rusike, who has been a long term target of the Harare giants since he was released by South Africa side Ajax Cape Town is now expected to put pen to paper on a one-year contract.

Glamour Boys secretary-general Webster Chikengezha confirmed the development yesterday and said DeMbare were excited that they had finally landed their catch following prolonged negotiations.

“I can confirm we have reached an agreement with Rusike’s manager and he should be signing the contract tomorrow. We are happy with the development. I am sure Tafadzwa will make a very good addition to our squad,” said Chikengezha.

Rusike has been club-less since parting ways with Ajax, when his contract expired at the end of the 2012/13 season and DeMbare’s efforts to lure the player during the mid-season last year came up against a brick-wall.

DeMbare are seeking to bolster their squad ahead of next year’s Champions League but their efforts have been frustrated by lack of funding.

The deal has just come on right time for Dynamos as they now have 25 men on their list ahead of the Caf registration deadline tonight. The Harare giants have decided to go it alone in the Champions League after their sponsors BancABC indicated they were not able to continue supporting them next season.

Chikengezha said the club had now put their fund-raising campaign in full swing after partnering EcoCash and NetOne, who are set to confirm their One wallet account today.

DeMbare needed about US$66 000 for signing on fees alone and about US$500 000 up to the group stages on the African Safari.
“We have opened an account with EcoCash and the process is very transparent because we will publish the names of all the people who would have deposited their cash and the amount each person has donated every week. Econet have said that it is possible. Our EcoCash code is 50640 and we will confirm the One Wallet code tomorrow (today).

“We are supposed to play three games at home before we reach the stages and each game should cost us minimum US$40 000, which translate to US$120 000 to host those matches.

“The away games need a minimum of US$60 000 if we make minimum calculations basing on our fixtures which are likely to be in the region.

“So if we put the referees and all we need is not less than US$400 000 as minimum.
“But those who wish to pay directly for the services can do so. If we can find someone who wishes to provide cars for the referees and a luxury bus for the visiting teams when they come here, we will really appreciate the offers. Also those who may want to pay for our airfares when we travel out may also do so directly,” said Chikengezha.
