DeMbare search for winning formula

THE search for a winning formula continues this afternoon for Harare giants Dynamos as they host Yadah on the back of a growing discord in the troubled Glamour Boys family.

Nothing seems to work at the moment as results have been evading the giants. On the other hand, the rift between the club’s leadership and sections of the supporters is still unresolved.

The supporters through their chapters have reiterated that they will continue lobbying for the boycott of their home games until reforms are made in the team’s leadership.

However, the club’s board chairman Bernard Marriot has brushed aside the calls and is trying to give new coach Saul Chaminuka the room to turn around the fortunes of the club in spite of the circumstances.

The team has witnessed some changes in terms of play, but positive results are still elusive. At least they have started scoring goals, having failed to hit the back of the nets in the last seven games before Chaminuka’s arrival.

They have scored in three of the four games that Chaminuka has been in charge but could only manage three draws and a defeat.

“We have always had better scoring opportunities than our opponents. To me it means we are playing well but it is the finishing. So, we will continue working on our problem, which is scoring goals,” said Chaminuka.

DeMbare are win-less in 11 games and this ranks as one of their longest barren spells in recent years.

They have not tasted victory since March 30 when they posted their only win of the season against Simba Bhora at Rufaro. DeMbare are coming from 2-2 draw against minnows Bikita Minerals in a game in which they twice spurned the opportunity to claim maximum points.

But their coach Chaminuka feels his team needs to start taking up wins to avoid pressure in the homestretch.

Yadah have also been struggling but they boosted their confidence with a hard fought 1-0 win over Herentals.

The Miracle Boys sit just above the drop zone with 14 points while DeMbare are third from the bottom.

The giants have been sinking, much to the disappointment of their supporters.

Harare Chapter acting chairperson Benevolent Karikoga Vono yesterday said the supporters will continue with their boycott which began last month.

“The boycott is still on and we are actually mulling to make it a total boycott. It will no longer be only home matches but away matches as well. We cannot be the whipping boys of the PSL,” said Vono.
