the club’s executive to appoint the former Warriors midfielder on a substantive basis.
The Dynamos executive is now expected to meet with Pasuwa today for contract talks after yesterday’s scheduled indaba was postponed.
But as the two parties go into the crucial talks that could shape the Harare giants’ pre-season preparations for the 2012 term, the DeMbare supporters came out in full support of Pasuwa and urged Kenny Mubaiwa’s leadership to find common ground with their coach.
Pasuwa revealed that he is now expected to meet with the Dynamos’ management over stalled contract talks with the club also now under pressure to give the mentor a real deal.
“We did not manage to meet today as had been arranged but we are now meeting tomorrow and hopefully both parties will come to some agreement so that we can move forward and plan ahead,” Pasuwa said.
The coach yesterday also met with the supporters’ leadership and emerged from the indaba with news that that the fans were fully behind him to steer the Dynamos ship as they chase glory on both the domestic and continental fronts.
Premiership champions Dynamos and runners-up FC Platinum will be the country’s representatives in the Champions League with the Glamour Boys getting a preliminary round bye because of their higher ranking on the continent.
But before they can turn their attention on what promises to be a busy 2012 season, DeMbare need to resolve the issue of the coach’s fate.
And Dynamos supporters’ association chairman, Felix Dzukwa, said they were optimistic that a deal would be thrashed “at least by the end of the week”.
Dzukwa, who also distanced himself from reports linking him with a bid to frustrate the coach, said his supporters’ body had embraced Pasuwa from the day he was appointed to take over.
He said they even held a reception in the capital on December as a token of appreciation “to the technical team, the players and the executive for a job well done in 2011”.
The dreadlocked Dynamos supporters’ chairman said they had also been surprised to note that Pasuwa was still to be offered a substantive deal despite helping the Harare giants secure a league and cup double.
“We inquired earlier on through the executive and we had been told that they would get him to sign a contract but just like all the other supporters were surprised to read in the press that in fact the coach had not yet signed any contract.
“I have since asked the coach and he has confirmed that indeed he is still to sign a contract and he gave me his reasons which I am not at liberty to discuss publicly.
“But I want to reiterate that we are fully behind him and, if need be, we will approach the executive and try and find out why and what the stumbling block is.
“I must also say that I have never tried to interfere with the coach’s decision on the players he chooses and I did not try to block any moves to get any players, including Norman Maroto or Zvenyika Makonese, because I enjoy good relations with Pasuwa.
“As supporters we are not privy to the day-to-day running of the club and so we thought everything was in order even though we know that our club has financial problems and this may make it difficult to sign all the players they would want,” Dzukwa said.
But it is the Pasuwa issue, Dzukwa said, which the supporters felt needed to be ironed urgently.
“The coach achieved what everyone wanted and like I said as supporters what we want is for him to be the substantive coach.
“It was not easy to overhaul the 12 points deficit over FC Platinum because it was a tough race… kana muroyi chaiye anopembera pakadaro.
“They (the Dynamos executive) had given Pasuwa a five-match trial and he passed the test and they said they would get him a car if he won more games but we are worried to note that all that has not been done,” Dzukwa said.
Dzukwa also said he drew optimism from the fact that there is a vastly improved working relationship between the team, the executive and the supporters.
“This executive is the first that is recognising the supporters maybe because it is because we have since ended the factionalism that used to divide us as supporters and we are happy that the executive recognises us.
“I must also say since Pasuwa took over there was an increase in the number of Dynamos supporters who travelled to the away games and we are happy that our members showed maturity this season and were never
charged for any violent conduct.
“So we have said if there is no deal between the executive and the coach by the end of the week, I will approach our national president Philemon Bonde to set up a meeting with the executive. Our supporters at
home and abroad want to know what is happening in our club too.
“I can also reveal that we have started mobilising corporate support for air tickets for the Champions League games and there is a company called Press Fly Investments which has already offered us five to 10 tickets for our members but we will double our efforts to get more support,” Dzukwa said.
