Born Taurai Boora, Gringaldino is popular for his fancy footwork and side-splitting jokes. The “Batai Munhu” show features Suluman Chimbetu, Nicholas Zakaria and Jah Prayzah.
However, the Dembo Brothers – who are viewed as the underdogs on the bill – have promised to give their best in music. “We want to start this year on a high note, so we are bringing in Gringaldino to spice up our act. We hope people will love our it,” said Tendai.
The band performed on Wednesday night at Jazz 105 with their new member and the fans loved it.
“I have always wished to come to perform in Harare to show the people what I am made of, so this a perfect start for me,” said the 20-year-old youngster who is based in Rusape.
“This gig (at Jazz 105) was like a dress rehearsal. Those who will attend the gig in Chitungwiza will be pleased to see new stuff,” he said.
“Batai Munhu” is a catchphrase taken from “Sean Timba” by Suluman. Though the song has raised eyebrows in some quarters, it remains popular among revellers and is fast becoming an anthem.
Owing to its popularity, dendera music fans have now christened Sulu as “Sean Timba” and each time the dendera heir goes on stage, fans demand the song.
