WHEN Moses Demera scored with his first touch at Ngoni on Sunday, he literally embraced his new nickname.

The Dynamos faithful have christened him ‘Short Time’.

The tag came after his winning goal against HardRock in the replay of the abandoned match, those remaining 14 minutes.

If DeMbare fans thought the Baobab miracle was mission impossible for the striker, then they were not ready for yesterday’s bit of theatre.

Introduced from the bench, Demera headed in Dynamos’ second goal almost immediately.

This time, he needed just a minute or so.

“Yes, I scored in that 14-minute game, and I needed to continue with that momentum,” Demera told Zimpapers Sports Hub.

Asked about the new name, the former ZPC Kariba striker shrugged with a smile: “Yes, I noticed after that game that they were giving me a new name. But there is nothing I can do about it. This is a big club, I can’t oppose them, I have to accept and play on. Hopefully we will continue to do well as a team.”

Demera has not been a starter since the beginning of the season.

And with top scorer Frank Agyemang now operating in a more central role, it is unlikely he will start anytime soon.

But one thing is for certain: new coach Aristica Cioaba believes in Moses leading when called upon, staying true to his name.

In a post-match interview, Cioaba stressed he needed to get the balance of the team right.

He said his target was ensuring that he has enough “speed” when it comes to the attackers.
