Democrats lost because “people so focused on me”: Obama

NEW YORK. – Former President Barack Obama said Democrats failed to maintain control of the White House and take Congress in 2016 because they were too focused on him personally and were waiting for inspiration to vote rather than concentrating on winning at all cost.

“I’ll be honest with you, if I have a regret during my presidency, it is that people were so focused on me and the battles we were having, particularly after we lost the House, that folks stopped paying attention up and down the ballot,” he said last week at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Beverly Hills, California, according to Politico.

The remarks were not published by news outlets until Friday. – Washington Examiner
