FORGOTTEN midfielder and former Dynamos talisman Denver Mukamba reminded the world of his brilliance when he rose from the bench to inspire Chapungu to a 1-1 draw against big spenders Manica Diamonds in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Mandava yesterday.

Mukamba suffered psychological problems that derailed and almost ended his promising career.

But after a prolonged stay on the sidelines, the former Warriors skipper marked his return with a fine show that inspired the airmen to an audacious come back.

He cancelled Kudakwashe Gurure’s 77th minute goal for Manica Diamonds with a well taken strike in stoppage time.

Chapungu are renowned for instilling discipline in their players and there is hope that with the guiding hand of experienced coach Rodwell Dhlakama, Mukamba might stay this time around.

Dhlakama was happy with a share of the spoils and paid tribute to his new recruit.

“I want to thank God for the result. Denver helped us a lot with his goal. We could have lost this game but we managed a point. We are relieved so much and I hope we will start picking maximum points soon and end this winless streak,” said Dhlakama.

Manica Diamonds coach Luke Masomere was disappointed by the late goal that his defence conceded.

“We had so many chances but we only scored one goal. On a good day, we could have won the match. Clearly we are lacking firepower upfront.

“Since the club does not have the money to buy more players, we have to work with what is available,” said Masomere.
