ZIMBABWEAN designers Sidumiso Tshuma and Sheena Moyo’s stars continue to shine as they are set to showcase their works at the forthcoming African Fashion Week Toronto to be held in Canada next month. The two designers will be part of the 21 designers from across the globe that will feature at the fashion expo running from 15-18 August.

In an interview, Moyo of Blinq Designs said she was happy to be taking part in the Fashion Week.

“This is a good opportunity for us to showcase our works outside the country and this is my first time showcasing my works outside the country and I am looking forward to the event,” said Moyo.

The Victoria Falls-based designer said her passion for designing began in 2012.
She founded her label Blinq, a button work accessory label which deals mainly with jewellery.

Her works have also been worn by former Studio 263 actress, Tinopona Katsande and DJ Eltonic.
She says her label appreciates the little, yet unique things that we take for granted as society.

Tshuma and Moyo are part of the three representatives from Southern Africa participating at the event to be held at the Japanese-Canadian Cultural Centre.

Tshuma said he was also excited that his work was beginning to bear fruit.
“I’m excited and humbled at the same time,” said Moyo.

Shadow by Sidumiso is a clothing label established in 2004.
Tshuma derived the name shadow from his days at school where his schoolmates used to call him by the name because of his dark complexion.

Last year, Tshuma dressed South African songbird Zahara, ZiFm presenter Loch Nation, Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2010 Samantha Tshuma and 5fm and GoodHope FM disc jockey Sonny Jermain.

The event will also feature some of the big names such as the French clothing label Mike Sylla and Botswana’s Black Trash Clothing.
