Online Reporter

ARMED robbers on Thursday afternoon attacked a cash-in-transit vehicle belonging to Safeguard security that was on routine duties at the Parkade Centre branch of Ecobank and got away with an undisclosed amount.

According to bystanders, the heavily armed robbers who were using a white pickup truck forced the security guards to lie down and took away trunks of money that were inside the two vehicles.

Unconfirmed reports are that they went away with over US$4 million, which was destined for Harare.

“It happened quite fast but i think i caught the number plate of the white pickup truck that was used by the armed robbers and it was AGP 2333,” said one of the eyewitnesses who declined to be named.
