MUDZI Rural District Council (RDC) has constructed three clinics using devolution funds, as the Government through local authorities work around the clock to improve health service delivery throughout the country.

Chimango clinic in ward 4 of Mudzi district was built with funds from last year’s devolution funds allocation and is one of the projects which the local authority has done.

This clinic brings relief to the people of ward 4 and surrounding communities who have been enduring long distance and hours walking to the next clinic for medical assistance.

The other two were built with funds from devolution and also through partnership with various stakeholders in the district.

Mudzi RDC chief executive officer Mr Victor Nyamutswa said the council will continue to work hard and bring best service delivery to everyone and near the people.

“We have clinics under construction under devolution, we managed to complete a clinic in ward 4 and is ready for commissioning. Then we have two more which are almost complete in different wards where several partners have contributed to their establishment.

“Besides these three, we have three more which are around 75 percent complete. These have their structures complete and currently we are building staff houses. We also have two clinics which we are again constructing where one is 50 percent complete and the other one is around 15 percent, we have just started constructing it, so this is all under health,” he said.

Mr Nyamutswa said for this year, they have been allocated $564 million and they have planned to use it to complete other projects being undertaken across the entire district.

“We have been allocated $565 for this year and we have several ongoing projects that we are set to complete with the funds. We have clinics under construction among other projects.

“We also need to procure additional road construction equipment. We are looking at the procurement of motorised grader and also a dozer among others.”

Besides construction of clinics, the council also procured a borehole drilling rig and have paid for the roller compactor for road construction using devolution funds availed last year.

Mr Nyamutswa commended Government for availing these funds.

“This is a very noble move by central Government as it buttresses the bottom up approach to development as well as provide the necessary financial resources for effective implementation of development projects and programmes,” he said.
