Dhewa’s Friday night date

Gweru last week, will thrill revellers at Megga 1 Bar in Harare tonight.
The “Samanyemba” hitmaker, who was admitted at St Anne’s Hospital in Harare where he was undergoing treatment from his non-Hodgkins cancer condition, will share the stage with the Dembo siblings, Morgan and Tendai, as well as dendera musician Chamunorwa Boroma.
Show organiser Joseph Munyebvu of Joe Promotions said the gig was not only a way of proving to fans that Dhewa was still as active as ever despite being in and out of hospital owing to his ill-health, but also a way of giving upcoming musicians a platform to showcase their talents while rubbing shoulders with the very best in the business.
“Dhewa is now as fit as a fiddle and is in fine form to hold shows as usual. It was just one of his routine check-ups and his fans should come and see the man in action at Megga 1 Bar,” said Munyebvu.
The promoter is the man behind Dhewa’s major sold-out shows.
Dhewa boasts a litany of hit albums to his name such as “Samanyemba”, “Muchina Muhombe”, “Muridzi Wenyaya” and is currently riding high with his latest offering “Toita Basa”.
The icing on the cake will be the presence of Morgan and Tendai Dembo – who are following in their father’s footsteps.
The brothers are billed to churn out a catalogue of yesteryear hits like “Chitekete”, “Nzungu Ndamenya” and “Madhiri” among others that made their father a household name.
On the other hand, Boroma, who calls himself “The Forgotten Son” being the “illegitimate” son to the late dendera king, Simon Chimbetu, is currently holding his own, if his recent shows are anything to go by.
The young musician is enjoying a purple patch and is destined to go places.
Boroma recently received a major boost from Munyebvu, who offered him musical instruments as well as support to record his forthcoming album.
