Dhlakama employs watchmen

NGEZI Platinum Stars coach, Rodwell Dhlakama, has deployed watchmen across the country’s major towns to help detect members of his squad involved in “money games”

The gaffer is concerned that some of the top-flight players are playing in such games.

“Ngezi Platinum Stars is not a Micky Mouse club. It’s a reputable team whose staff should always show certain levels of professionalism,” said Dhlakama.

“It is so disappointing to hear that some of the players involved in these money games are, indeed, professionals who have been in these Premiership trenches for so many years.

“As Ngezi Platinum Stars, we have tried everything in the book to keep our players occupied everyday.

“Each player works on an individualised schedule in the morning, afternoon and evening and we make it a point we get the full videos of those workouts.

“As the head coach, I also make sure I talk to each of my players, at least thrice a day, and assess their videos.”

The coach said he had deployed his men to check on those who were playing these money games.

“I have deployed my watchmen who would be seeing what is happening in the towns pertaining these money games,” said Dhakama.

“Those guys I have assigned know my players and will report whoever is seen playing these games.

“We are saying compliance is the real deal. Government hasn’t yet given football players the authority to resume the sport yet alone wander around.

“That’s unacceptable.”

Several other Premiership coaches have also warned their players that they risk heavy sanctions should they be found playing these unsanctioned games. Already, some players who were exposed by The Herald Sport this week, have been fined by their clubs.
