DHLAKAMA EYES BIG FISH

Bruce Chikuni
ZPC Kariba coach, Rodwell Dhlakama, believes champions FC Platinum can be beaten at their Mandava fortress.

Kauya Katuruturu have lost once, in their past six games, with Dhlakama once again showing he is a verym good coach.

Norman Mapeza’s troops have managed seven wins and a draw in their previous eight assignments.

The two sides meet in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Mandava this weekend.

Last weekend, Dhlakama’s men salvaged a 1-0 victory over Cranborne Bullets, despite being reduced to 10 men, early in the first half.

The win earned them a place above the relegation zone, due to a superior goal difference rule.

Dhlakama told H-Metro that a lot was at stake since both sides are on different missions.

“We are not focusing on what FC Platinum have been doing but our target is to get a positive result at Mandava to boost our relegation survival hopes.

“It’s unfortunate that we are not where we would want to be on the standings but we are doing our best to put the team on a respectable position.

“The boys have been training very well, we have no injuries in the camp.

“We are expecting a tough fixture since the two sides are desperate to achieve different objectives,” said Dhlakama.

He underlined the importance of fair officiating. “The best team should always win but not because of terrible officiating,” he said.

“We are expecting a good game of football and it’s sad that we have been experiencing poor officiating in our previous games.

“This fixture is important for us because we can’t afford to drop points at this moment.

“We are going to Mandava with a positive mindset since we have been playing well in our past matches.”

He dismissed reports which are linking Denver Mukamba with a reunion with him at ZPC Kariba.

The midfielder was handed a chance to revive his career by Dhlakama, when he was still at Chapungu United.

The two then reunited at Ngezi Platinum where Mukamba started playing very well there were even calls for him to be included in the Warriors squad for the 2021 AFCON finals.
