BLACK Leopards coach, Rodwell Dhlakama, is wasting no time in proving his credentials in the South African Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The Limpopo side were struggling in the relegation zone, failing to win in their opening five games.
However, the introduction of Dhlakama seems to have inspired the side to a five-game unbeaten streak.
Dhlakama has overseen two wins and three draws in his first five assignments.
They are gradually moving away from the second-tier league’s red-zone.
His run could be extended to six should Black Leopards avoid defeat against Cape Town Spurs on Saturday in the final game before the World Cup break.
Leopards are currently third from the basement with 15 points.
Dhlakama said he was keen to make some additions to his squad.
“The boys are making steady progress and I’m happy with the way we have been turning the table around.
“It’s been a huge task, but I believe the boys at our disposal have what it takes to help the team achieve its goals.
“I’m still trying to look for better ways to get the best from these guys.
“But, I also feel we need to get a few players on board to strengthen our camp.”
He said he is hoping the World Cup break will help his side to turn the corner.
“Considering where we are, you can only expect to go to the break with a win.
“The boys know what is required from them because we can’t afford to drop points.
“Our fans have endured a lot in the first round and we are praying for better fortunes in the final round of the season,” he said.
JDR Stars, who are home to Ishmael Wadi and Temptation Chiwunga, are also enjoying a purple patch in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
They are seven points behind the log leaders and will be hosting league anchors Pretoria Callies on Sunday.
Edmore Chirambadare and Tatenga Tavengwa’s Venda Football Academy, are just a point above Pretoria Callies.
