Diabetic father loses protection order bid

A DIABETIC man left the courtroom disappointed after Harare Civil Court dismissed his protection order application against his son.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi was not convinced by Bernard Anesu’s claims that his son Simbarashe insults, harasses or hides his documents.

Bernard claimed that Simbarashe hid his national ID, birth certificate and academic certificates, and threatened to rough him up every time.

“He returns home at around 1am and makes a lot of noise.

“He sometimes wakes me up and threatens to beat me up,” said Bernard, who claimed to be sick.

“I don’t want him to stay at my house anymore because of his wayward behaviour.

“He should move out and find somewhere to stay.”

In response, Simbarashe said he could not move out because no one will take care of his father.

“He is diabetic, my wife and I are the ones taking care of him.

“He also has an injured leg and I am the one who was supposed to report him because he insults and harasses my wife,” said Simbarashe.

He added:

“I work at a restaurant nearby and I come home a bit late.

“I have never gone into his bedroom when I get home.

“I only see him in the morning before I leave for work.”
