The 2008 Idols East Africa finalist, Adiona Maboreke-Chidzonga is expecting another child with husband, Munya Chidzonga. Popularly known as the Diamond Boy, Munya, a former Big Brother Africa Allstars housemate, actor and producer who hogged the limelight in 2010 after what was described as a robbed victory in the reality show, married Maboreke in 2012. For his efforts, Chidzonga was presented with a $300,000 cheque by President Mugabe for representing Zimbabwe well in the contest which he lost to Nigeria’s Uti Nwachukwu.

But before marrying the songstress, the reality TV couple had gone their separate ways, just after Chidzonga returned home from South Africa. Their five-year-old son, Pfumai who was about 10 months old then, rekindled their love and the two agreed to reconcile after Munya’s BBA fame had dwindled.

“It’s true that we separated. It wasn’t working and there’s no specific reason for the separation. It happens with any other break-up when you both realise that this isn’t going the way it is supposed to be,” Chidzonga was quoted saying on his wedding day in September, 2012.

Five years later, the couple is still going strong with Chidzonga proudly announcing that they are expecting their second baby.

Speaking with ZiFM Stereo’s SoProfound on the Celebrity Hangout yesterday, Chidzonga said: “Adiona is carrying baby Diamond number two so we’ve been chilled, spending more time indoors.”

Asked how they had kept their love going, the Diamond Boy said prayer had seen them through.

“My wife and I pray together and that’s something that’s kept our love going. We try to spend as much time talking to each other and doing things together.

“We may not necessarily agree on everything, but we definitely agree on prayer,” he said.

Though not much of a romantic, Chidzonga said buying his wife chocolates and flowers earned him marks, also rekindling their love.

“I’m the most unromantic person in the world so I usually bribe her with food. She’s got special food that she likes like chocolates so I get her that once in a while.

“We love watching movies together so every Friday we go to the cinemas for our movie night. I married a singer but she knows and loves cinema so that also bonds us.”

The actor said his romantic nature died when he became cool, in apparent reference to the BBA experience and the fame which came with it.

“The romance ended when I became cool. I figured I was too cool for romance,” he said.

Maboreke-Chidzonga said she was almost due adding that she had put her music career on hold to focus on the new addition to their family.

“I’ve had to put my music on hold but I’m composing lyrics for songs for my forthcoming debut album. Once I give birth, I’ll have quite a lot of music for my fans and hopefully an album,” Maboreke-Chidzonga said.
