Arda Transau Estate for villagers affected by their operations at Chiadzwa diamond fields.
Some 484 villagers affected by mining operations at concessions allocated to Anjin Corporation, were yesterday also allocated half hectare plots on the vast estate located few kilometres from Mutare City.
The villagers will also be given 10kg packs of seed today by the company to start their farming activities on the estate.
Anjin Corporation, a company that was recently allowed to sell its stockpile of diamonds by the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme, also assisted in clearing farming land for the villagers.
The company has also constructed 474 houses for the people affected by its operations in Marange and this is about 90 percent of the homesteads.
Marange Resources has constructed 104 houses and 42 families have since occupied the homesteads, while the company targets to construct about 100 more homes by year end.
Mbada Diamonds has allocated over 100 houses to families affected by its operations in their mining concession in Marange.
Diamond Mining Corporation that started mining diamonds in Marange four months ago has so far constructed 21 standard homes for people displaced by its operations.
The four companies have partnered the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation in mining the gems in Marange areas.
The villagers who spoke to the Herald were upbeat that their lives were going to be transformed once all systems were in place.
Anjin Corporation co-ordinator of relocation programme, Mr Romeo Mutsvunguma, told journalists touring the housing scheme at Arda Transau yesterday that most of the people who were accommodated in the 474
homesteads the company constructed were from five villages in Chiadzwa.
The homesteads were built on one hectare plots and include a four bedroomed house, a round and thatched kitchen and a toilet, while chiefs are accommodated in four-bedroomed houses.
