Tanzanian musician and dancer, Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, professionally known as Diamond Platnumz, is expected in the country this afternoon ahead of the Kadoma Music Festival.

The festival will kick off tonight and end on Sunday.

Show organisers said the artist would hold a Press conference on arrival.

The festival will be held at the Odyssey, where the Tanzanian entertainer will come face-to-face with high-riding Alick Macheso, the inimitable Jah Prayzah and Winky D.

Popular and highly influential in East Africa, Diamond Platnumz is no stranger to Zimbabwe, having collaborated with Jah Prayzah on the 2016 song ‘Watora Mari’, off the album Mudhara Vachauya.

A consistent and multiple award-winner at the Tanzania Music Awards, Diamond Platnumz comes to Zimbabwe on the back of a string of best-selling singles. Besides their collaboration on Watora Mari, Diamond Platnumz and Jah Prayzah have previously shared the stage at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).

But, it is the addition of Alick Macheso to the line-up that is likely to spice up the festival tomorrow, where thousands of revellers are expected to turn up.

Today, Zimdancehall sensation Killer T, currently enjoying a musical status with high riding single, ‘Kana Ndanyura’, will perform at a pre-show at the same venue as warm up. While the general expectation tomorrow will be on Diamond Platnumz matching his contemporaries on stage presence and performances, the focus will also be on Macheso whose latest album has received mixed reviews.

However those who have worked with Macheso will attest that there is a difference between his studio presence and live performances. The Kadoma Music Festival will not be about big names, as show organisers have given a chance to youthful musicians like the Cheso Boys, Tembo Brothers, Kurai Makore, Saintfloew and Gemma Griffiths.

“The stage has been set for the show and we are now waiting for the arrival of some of our key stakeholders, artistes and service providers.

“We are giving sons of legends, Tembo Brothers and Cheso Boys a platform to showcase their talent and prove to any doubting Thomases that they have what it takes to perform at the bigger stage. This will be an opportunity  to silence any critics, that is if they have any” said Prince Mharadze, spokesperson for the festival.

Apart from the music, event organisers are hoping that the festival extends to township tourism as revellers will have the chance to visit and stay in the suburbs of Kadoma and Chegutu.

“We know most of the fans coming for the festival will be from out of Kadoma and Chegutu, so we have made sure that there is enough accommodation for everyone.

“We want this festival to be a celebration of not just music, but of township tourism. We are inviting everyone to come and have a taste of Kadoma,” said Mharadze.
