ZIMBABWE is set to host the 4th Annual Diaspora Conference, bringing together Government officials, business leaders and citizens living abroad to explore opportunities for investment, skills transfer and economic growth.
The three-day hybrid conference, scheduled for April 9 to 11 at the Regency Fairmile Hotel in Gweru, is being hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in partnership with other Government ministries, departments, agencies and the private sector.
Guided by the national doctrine, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo”, the conference aims to strengthen collaboration between the Government and the Diaspora community while supporting the country’s development agenda.
It will run under the theme, “Diaspora powering progress: Driving partnerships, innovation and sustainable growth towards Vision 2030”.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson Mrs Philisiwe Chidawanyika, said the theme highlights the Government’s drive to harness the expertise, investment and entrepreneurial capacity of Zimbabweans abroad.
On the sidelines, the Diaspora Trade and Investment Expo will provide a platform for business networking between the Diaspora community, local private sector players and small and medium enterprises, creating avenues for trade and investment.
