DIESEL plant fitter, Waziri Ramajan, appeared in court yesterday on a theft charge.

The theft occured in 2008.

Ramajan appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi who released him on US$100 bail.

The court heard that the complainant gave Ramajan a Case Front End loader machine to repair.

On Ramajan’s instructions, the complainant bought one drum of hydraulic oil for US$1 000, one drum of engine oil for US$1 000, two heavy duty batteries for US$600, four brand new tyres for US$6 000 and he charged US$4 000 for labour.

Instead of fixing the machine, Ramajan allegedly sold it.

The complainant discovered the offence on December 9 last year when he went to collect his machine after making numerous fruitless visits.

When the complainant did not find the machine in the workshop, he made a police report leading to Ramajan’s arrest.

The machine was worth US$32 600.
